You want us to pay for Documentation Insight - which NO ONE can use since a year

Hi,

on Saturday this Email reached our psyprax.de Email-Account. We are always using the newest Delphi version. Since Delphi 12, more than a year, the team cannot use it. Yet, you are asking us to pay for another year? I view that as quite brazen.

Hi Thomas,

We wanted to give you a heads up that your Documentation Insight Ultimate Subscription subscription is up for renewal on 29.10.2024. You will be charged 642,00 €.

We hope you stick around! If you do not want to renew Documentation Insight Ultimate Subscription, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Access your settings at DevJet Software

  2. Press “Cancel Subscription”

  3. Confirm the cancelation

Thanks for using our product.

Hi @sakura,

I’m sorry for the inconvenience you’ve experienced due to the lack of support for Delphi 12 for such a long time. We understand your frustration, and we take full responsibility for not keeping the product up to date. Unforeseen challenges in recent months postponed our release plan, but we’re working diligently to make things right.

We are now stick with the old FastSpring store, which needs customers manually cancel their subscriptions to avoid auto renewal and it will send notice email before auto renewal. We are going to use their new store which fixes this and it also provides a simple user portal to view and manage subscriptions.

Here’s our plan moving forward:

  • Cancel all existing subscriptions to prevent auto-renewal.
  • Release an update that supports Delphi 12.
  • Extend your and other qualified subscriptions for free to compensate for the delay.
  • Offer regular renewal pricing for all registered users when the new version is released, should you choose to continue with us.

Best Regards,

Zuo Baoquan

Hello,

I’ve ordered our finance dept to cancel the order.

Hi!
Is this your general suggestion for your customers?
I would be happy to go along with this, as the software hasn’t really been usable for some time now.
Do you already have a time frame for when everything should work again?

Regards
René

@LairdTurner

Hi, they will be applied to all customers. We understand a usable software is essential. In summary,

  • Delivery a public version supports Delphi 12 before November 8th, 2024.
  • Offer new licensing: Commercial Subscription and Personal Subscription
  • Cancel all subscriptions on old store and migrate to new FastSpring store (Manual renewal by default, with a simple customer portal)
  • Bottom line, Offer 6-month free extension for those who have active subscription since Oct 1st, 2023. (Further details will be announced)
  • Existing inactive customers can have regular renewal price until Feb 1st, 2025.

In addition, we will use Stable/Beta/Dev channels to keep continuous improvements to the product.

@LairdTurner btw. there is a new update of DocInsight 2025 in the Beta forum.

Corrected the time frame (typo)

A version that really works should be coming soon. The current beta doesn’t work correctly for me either. If you open the help, a task error appears or the Documentation Inspector remains empty!

I’ve been a customer of yours for 10 years, but at the moment I just can’t work with the software any more and I don’t have the time to test it at the moment.

kind regards
René

@LairdTurner Sorry about that. Do you use 6.0.0.15 or 6.0.0.16? If time allows, could you take a look at the server log to see any panics or other? (via DocInsight > Tools > Show Logs)

@LairdTurner

Hi, I’ve finally reproduced this issue with Delphi 12 (DPI Unaware). I’ll investigate on this.

Filed Issue: DocInspector/DocExplorer not functional in Delphi 12 (DPI Unaware)

This issue was caused by a VCL bug.

It has been resolved and will be available in next update.

What’s New in DocInsight 2025 Beta

Hi.
One of our developers is also experiencing this problem. Here is an error entry from the server log.

10:43:20 ERROR docinsight: panicked at lib\paslang\crates\server\src\server.rs:299:51:
Fail to convert uri to file path: ()

@TElmers Thanks for your simple log! It helps. I’ll investigate on it.

If there is any additional information, I will appreciate it. (What kind of url? invalid path/non-file url/network path?)
